This is my first mock up for my preliminary task, which is to produce a front cover for a school or college magazine.
I would first like to point out that these are not the colours I will be using, as it is too much. I simply used the different variety of colour to seperate the text boxes so I could view the layout much more clearly.
I made the font in the masthead red because our audiences associate red as a 'stop' colour, and it will hopefully grab their attention. Whether I will actually use a red font for my final preliminary I have not yet decided.
I intend to have a large image which will be the background in order to put the information in the foreground, hopefully with a logo and another smaller image overlapping.
Also, there will obviously be a barcode featured somewhere near the bottom of the page, as it is needed but shouldn't take up too much space.
For this mock up I have used Desktop Publisher, however I plan to use Photoshop for the main task.
For my next screenshot I will perhaps look into different fonts, as this font is not my finalised decision. I need to think about what font will appropriately represent the school. The font also needs to be clear, easy to read and eye catching. If it just a dull and mundane text it won't grab readers attention, and I would like professional results.
